I’m a dedicated educator with over 12 years of experience teaching mathematics. I’ve been helping students master both IGCSE and IBDP curricula. My passion lies in making complex mathematical concepts accessible and understandable for every student, helping them build confidence and achieve their academic goals.

My name is Maru, and I’m a passionate mathematics educator with over 22 years of experience teaching in both international and local schools. I’m originally from Ethiopia, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a PGCE from the University of Nottingham, and a Master’s in Advanced Education from the University of the People (USA).

I currently teach at an International School, where I also serve as Head of the Mathematics Department. Beyond the classroom, I am a certified IB Examiner.  My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every learner can excel with the right strategies, encouragement, and support.

As an experienced IBDP Mathematics teacher, I specialize in both the Analysis and Approaches (AA) and Applications and Interpretation (AI) curricula at the Higher and Standard Levels.

My teaching philosophy is centred on inquiry-based learning and developing a deep conceptual understanding of mathematical principles. I create personalized, world-class learning experiences that focus on honing problem-solving skills and empowering students to achieve outstanding results.

I actively integrate technology to enhance collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. I see technology as a powerful catalyst for student growth, and I use it to make complex topics more accessible and engaging.

Furthermore, I have extensive experience mentoring students through their Internal Assessments (IAs), providing structured guidance that fosters academic rigour and independent thinking.

Ultimately, I am passionate about more than just academic excellence; my goal is to help students develop the confidence and independence needed for lifelong success, all while nurturing the core values of the IB Learner Profile.
