Corestone Education Client Policy
Effective Date: August 11, 2025

Welcome to Corestone Education! This policy outlines the terms and conditions for clients using our platform to connect with tutors and counselors. By engaging our services, you agree to these terms. Corestone Education is a Nova Scotia, Canada Registered Business (#4737934) that operates in accordance with provincial and federal laws.

1. Services and Payment

Corestone Education is a registered business that connects clients with qualified, independent tutors and counselors.

  • Service Fees: Our standard hourly rates are $55 USD for tutors and $65 USD for counselors, unless a different rate has been agreed upon in a written contract.

Payment Process: All payments for services must be made directly to Corestone Education. For new clients, we retain the full payment for the first lesson. For all subsequent lessons, Corestone will retain 15% of the payment. Tutors and counselors are not authorized to accept direct payments or negotiate fees with you.

2. Scheduling and Cancellations

  • Responsibility: Both you and your tutor or counselor are responsible for providing prompt notice of any scheduling changes. If a session needs to be rescheduled, you should work directly with your tutor or counselor to find an alternative time.
  • Cancellation Policy: You may cancel a session with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice without penalty. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to the full cost of the scheduled session.

3. Your Responsibilities

To ensure a productive, secure, and professional experience, we ask that you:

  • Communicate Effectively: Use the Corestone Google Classroom platform for all communications and lessons. This ensures a consistent and secure learning environment and a clear record of all interactions, as required by our policies and Canadian law.
  • Respect the Process: Do not attempt to arrange private lessons or payments with a tutor or counselor you met through Corestone. This is a direct violation of our policy and may result in the termination of your access to our services.
  • Abide by Academic Integrity: Plagiarism and improper involvement in your work are strictly prohibited. Our tutors are here to guide and support your learning, not to do the work for you.

4. Intellectual Property and Confidentiality

  • Intellectual Property: Under Canadian law, a tutor or counselor generally owns the intellectual property they create. However, in the context of our services, you are granted a license to use any new educational materials created during your sessions for your personal, non-commercial use. Corestone Education also retains a license to use these materials for its business operations and quality assurance.
  • Confidentiality: We are committed to protecting your personal and confidential information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Your information will be kept private for at least three years after your agreement with us ends, unless a longer period is required by law.

5. Limitation of Liability and Dispute Resolution

  • Limitation of Liability: Corestone Education is not liable for any direct or indirect damages that may arise from the independent actions of a tutor or counselor. Our liability is limited to the fees paid for the services directly provided by Corestone.
  • Dispute Resolution: If a dispute arises, we will first attempt to resolve it through our internal process. If a resolution cannot be reached, the dispute may be referred to mediation. Any legal action will be governed by the laws of Nova Scotia and the applicable laws of Canada.
